1. Visit and stay on Magnetic Island. The island commonly known as Maggie is a delight to spend a few days on with beautiful beaches, snorkelling and short walks.

 2. Take a reef trip try Sunsea Reef Cruises which goes to pristine John Brewer Reef four days per week (Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday) or for a longer trip try the Coral Princess

 3. Head inland to Charters Towers, Undara Lava tubes and Atherton Tablelands via car rental. The enormous contrast between the arid desert and the lush rainforest can be experienced in a round trip from Townsville-charters towers-Undara-Atherton-Townsville. I would suggest 3 days to really enjoy the area.

 4. For the more adventurous they could charter a yacht and sail around Palm Island group or a luxury version on a 45 foot Catamaran. We have some of the best cruising areas in the world around Townsville.
