Davies Reef Sensor Network
This demonstrator is an environment monitoring network that is being installed in Davies Reef, 78 km north east of Townsville
- Davies Reef blog
- This blog will document the trials and tribulations of the installation of the Sensor Network on Davies Reef.

- Davies Reef Sensor Network Project Overview
- This demonstrator is a QPSF funded project called ReefGrid. It is a collaboration between QPSF, AIMS, JCU and UQ. A permanent communications link will be established to Davies Reef, 78km east of Townsville, where a network of environment monitoring sensors will be deployed.
- Davies Reef Sensor Network Power Supply
- The design of the power supply for the Davies Reef Sensor Network provided several challenges - it is remote, requires close to 3kWh a day and is in a harsh marine environment.
- Davies Reef Sensor Network Microwave Data Link
- A microwave link will provide the high speed data "pipe" between the sensor network at Davies Reef and the mainland. This will be done via a novel method of using the phenomenon of an "evaporation duct" just above the ocean's surface to trap the signal and allow it to propagate past the optical horizon.
